PROCEEDINGS FOR THE
TAYLOR COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
The Taylor County Board of Supervisors met in regular session at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 15, 2025. Supervisor Jack Beggs called the meeting to order at 9:03 a m. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Supervisor roll call: Fitzgerald, Watson, and Beggs present. Also present, Auditor Judy Henry, Jim Rowe, Rob Welch and Scott Eischeid.
Watson made a motion to approve the amended agenda for today and minutes from the May 8, 2025, meeting. The amended agenda added opening and possible approval of bids for courtyard seeding, concrete removal/replacement and tree trimming. Fitzgerald seconded the Motion. MC 3-0.
COMMITTEE REPORT:
None.
PUBLIC COMMENT:
Scott Eischeid gave an update on Blockton Watershed maintenance and suggested dates for a Board tour of said projects. Rob Welch updated the Board on scholarship winners in the County and studies being done for the Windmill Project.
SECONDARY ROAD REPORT:
Rowe presented the Federal Aid Agreement on the J20 bridge. Fitzgerald made a motion to accept the Federal Aid Agreement. Watson seconded, MC 3-0. Rowe also presented a utility permit for Carrier Services for 2261 State Hwy 2 Cell Tower. Fitzgerald made a motion to approve the permit. Watson seconded, motion MC 3-0.
NEW BUSINESS:
Crystal Drake, Public Health, provided 2 quotes for roof repair at her office. Yoder Roofing for $21,240 and CJ Kimpston Roofing for $14,546. Fitzgerald made a motion to approve Kimpston to repair the roof. Watson seconded, MC 3-0.
Josh Good, IT, provided a quote of $4,272.67 from CAMA Vision Data for a server in the Assessor’s Office. Watson made a motion to approve the CAMA server. Fitzgerald seconded, MC 3-0.
Auditor Henry submitted FY25 Budget Amendment #2. The amendment included insurance premium increase, medical supply pricing increase and public safety services. Fitzgerald made a motion to approve the amendment as presented. Watson seconded, MC 3-0.
Henry also submitted the FY25 Secondary Roads Budget Amendment for building costs. Watson made a motion to approve the amendment. Fitzgerald seconded, MC 3-0.
BeLinda Ogle updated the Board on the insurance claim for the John Deere tractor and mower.
OLD BUSINESS:
Culp reported on continued projects and upkeep of the Courthouse. Bids were opened for the Courtyard projects. Seeding bids were Lincolns Lawn Care for $5,800 and Drake Seeding for $3,175. Fitzgerald motioned to approve Drake Seeding. Watson seconded, MC 3-0. The only concrete bid was Lincolns Lawn Care for $8,400. Watson made a motion to approve Lincolns Lawn Care. Fitzgerald seconded, MC 3-0. Tree removal bids were RC Tree for $2,250 and Lincoln’s Lawn Care for $4,198. Watson made a motion to approve RC Tree for tree removal. Fitzgerald seconded, MC 3-0.
Department Heads met to continue discussion on updating the Handbook.
The Board approved claims to be paid and discussed items for the next meeting.
Watson made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Fitzgerald seconded, MC 3-0. Meeting adjourned.
