TAYLOR COUNTY RESOLUTION NO. #2027-05
RESOLUTION DECLARING INTENT TO SELL COUNTY REAL PROPERTY AND AUTIIORIZING PUBLIC HEARING
WHEREAS, Taylor County, Iowa (the “County”) is the owner of certain real property located at 619 Court Street, Bedford, Iowa, legally described as (ORIG CENTER26′ LOT 5 BLK 10 CORP BEDFORD, PARCEL #0423010005000). (the “Annex”); and
WHEREAS, the Annex was acquired by the County to serve as a temporary handicap-accessible courtroom facility; and
WHEREAS, the County has completed renovations to the Taylor County Courthouse to provide permanent handicap-accessible court facilities, and the Annex is no longer needed for public purposes; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors has determined that it is in the public interest to sell the Annex and apply the proceeds to county operations or capital improvements; and
WHEREAS, Iowa Code§ 331.361 authorizes the Board of Supervisors to sell county real estate not needed for public purposes; and
WHEREAS, Iowa Code§ 331.302 requires the County to conduct a public hearing· before selling county real property; •
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors of Taylor County, Iowa:
I. Declaration of Intent: The Board hereby declares its intent to sell the Annex, having determined that said property is not needed for public purposes and that sale serves the public interest.
II. Public Hearing: A proposed public hearing shall be held on September 17, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at the Taylor County Courthouse, Basement Floor Boardroom, 405 Jefferson Street, Bedford Iowa, to receive public comment regarding the proposed sale.

III. Notice: The County Auditor is directed to cause notice of said public hearing to be published in Bedford Times-Press a newspaper of general circulation in Taylor County, at least ten (10) days prior to the hearing date, in compliance with Iowa Code
§ 331.305.

IV. Staff Authorization: The County Auditor is authorized to:
• Obtain a professional appraisal or comparative market analysis to establish fair market value;
• Prepare materials for the public hearing including property valuation, proposed sale terms, and staff recommendations;
• Prepare a resolution for Board consideration following the public hearing authorizing the method and terms of sale.
