PUBLIC HEARING TO ESTABLISH A
TEMPORARY MORATORIUM
The Taylor County Board of Supervisors met for a public hearing at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday,
July 23, 2026. Supervisor Jack Beggs called the meeting to order at 12:00 p.m. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Supervisor call: Wall, Fitzgerald and Beggs present. Also present, Auditor, Judy Henry, Jan Norris and James Norris.
Wall motioned to approve the agenda for today. Fitzgerald seconded, MC 3-0.
PUBLIC COMMENT:
Jan Norris and James Norris from Montgomery County asked questions about the Moratorium. Stated they don’t have wind, solar or data centers in Montgomery County but felt they wanted to attend this meeting to get a heads up on what might happen in their County.
The Board provided copies of the proposed Ordinance establishing a temporary moratorium on the acceptance, processing and approval of applications for data centers, solar energy, battery energy storage system and mineral right development in its entirety. They also stated they wanted to be proactive by establishing this moratorium. They have developed a committee in hopes to develop a permeant ordinance to put in place for Taylor County.
Wall made a motion to adjourn the public hearing, Fitzgerald seconded MC3-0. AYES: Wall, Beggs and Fitzgerald. NAYS:0
The Board of Supervisors approve these unofficial minutes to be published in the local newspapers and upon approval in the Taylor County Board of Supervisors Minute Book:
