OFFICAL PROCEEDINGS FOR
TAYLOR COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

The Taylor County Board of Supervisors met in regular session at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday,
July 9, 2026. Supervisor Jack Beggs called the meeting to order at 9:05 a.m. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Supervisor roll call: Wall, Fitzgerald and Beggs present. Also present, Auditor, Judy Henry, Engineer, Seth Sunderman, Rob Welch, Marinda Watcher, Amber Dodds, Garin Buttermore and Sarah Guilliatt.

Wall motioned to approve the agenda for today and minutes from July 2, 2026. Fitzgerald seconded, MC 3-0.

PUBLIC COMMENT:
None

COMMITTEE REPORT:
Beggs attended the SICOG meeting.

SECONDARY ROADS:
No utility permits. Engineer Sunderman reported they continue working on the Holt 23 Bridge. Sunderman informed the Board one of the work trucks had been damaged due to an accident. Sunderman provided quotes from Dewey Ford at $67,490 for a Ford Super Duty F-250 SRWXLT and Karl Chevrolet at $62,420 for a Chevy Silverado 2500 HD. Fitzgerald motioned to approve the purchase of the Chevy Silverado from Karl Chevrolet. Wall seconded, MC 3-0.

NEW BUSINESS:
Sarah Guilliatt with Public Health, Miranda Watcher, Garin Buttermore and Amber Dodds with Iowa Primary Care Association joined the meeting. Watcher is the district 4 Rep which includes 14 Counties in Southwest Iowa. She reported that Iowa Primary Care Association provides Iowa community health as well as behavioral health services for the State of Iowa. They want to spend FY27 collaborating with County’s on how to make mental health support better and connect with citizens when they have a crisis. Auditor Henry asked if this program would help with the mental health advocate shortage plaguing most of Southwest Iowa. Guilliatt stated she had been serving as an advocate on occasion but relayed we do need someone on a permanent basis.
Henry provided the Taylor County Resolution #2027-01, Southern Iowa Council of Government program and development participation yearly agreement. Fitzgerald motioned to approve Resolution #2027-01, Wall seconded. MC 3-0.
OLD BUSINESS:
The Board discussed items for the next meeting.

Claims against the County were approved.

Fitzgerald made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Wall seconded, MC 3-0.
Meeting adjourned.

The Board of Supervisors approve these unofficial minutes to be published in the local newspapers and upon approval in the Taylor County Board of Supervisors Minute Book:
