PROCEEDINGS FOR THE
TAYLOR COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
The Taylor County Board of Supervisors met in regular session at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday,
October 16, 2025. Supervisor Jack Beggs called the meeting to order at 9:07 a m. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Supervisor roll call: Watson, Fitzgerald, and Beggs present. Also present, Auditor Judy Henry, Engineer Seth Sunderman, Rob Welch, JCG Land Services, County Attorney Mike Wells.
Fitzgerald made a motion to amend the current agenda to include a Letter of Resignation from Supervisor Kim Watson. Beggs seconded, MC 3-0.
Watson presented his letter of resignation indicating November 30, 2025, as his last day of service to Taylor County. Fitzgerald made a motion to accept the letter of resignation. Beggs seconded, MC 2-0 with Watson abstaining.
COMMITTEE REPORT:
All 3 Supervisor’s attended the area Super 6 County meeting along with Auditor Henry. Taylor County hosted the meeting at the Lenox Community Building with Tiger Den suppling the dinner. Budgets, Equalization orders, taxes and web apps were discussed.
SECONDARY ROAD REPORT:
There were no utility permits. Sunderman presented a purchase agreement for a 2019 D6N Caterpillar with Zeigler for $198,000. Watson made a motion to approve the purchase agreement with Zeigler. Fitzgerald seconded, MC 3-0.
NEW BUSINESS:
Attorney Wells informed the Board he is still researching information on the Heart of Iowa situation. He also discussed the current situation in the Veterans Office. Auditor Henry relayed several meetings in November will need to be moved due to prior engagements, election and a holiday. After discussion the November meetings were set to the 6th, 12th, 20th and 25th. The December 11th meeting was moved to 10th due to a district meeting.
Zoie Lecy, Jeff Soulsby and Dean Rowe with Conservation, joined the meeting to update the Board on current activities. Conservation updates included equipment purchases, fixing fence at Sands Timber, and working on a grant for improvements at Windmill Lake.
OLD BUSINESS:
Shellia Culp discussed the upkeep of the Courthouse.
The Board approved claims to be paid and discussed items for the next meeting.
Watson made a motion to adjourn. Fitzgerald seconded, MC 3-0.
