PROCEEDINGS FOR THE
TAYLOR COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

The Taylor County Board of Supervisors met in regular session at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday,
October 9, 2025. Supervisor Jack Beggs called the meeting to order at 9:00 a m. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Supervisor roll call: Watson, Fitzgerald, and Beggs present. Also present, Auditor Judy Henry, Engineer Seth Sunderman, Sheriff’s Deputy Daniel Wyckoff and Shari Morris, JCG Land Services.

Fitzgerald made a motion to approve the agenda for today and the minutes from the October 2, 2025, meeting. Watson seconded, MC 3-0.

COMMITTEE REPORT:
Watson attended the Southern Iowa Trolly meeting.
Beggs attended the SICOG meeting.

PUBLIC COMMENT:
Shari Morris, JCG Land Services, updated the Board on the Windmill Project.

SECONDARY ROAD REPORT:
Sunderman reported there were no utility permits but needed to set a public hearing date for a road closing in Dallas Township, Section 10. Fitzgerald motioned to set the hearing date for October 30, 2025. Watson seconded. MC 3-0. Sunderman wanted to discuss the amount he needed on the Engineer Insurance Bonding. Watson made a motion to set it at $5,000. Fitzgerald seconded, MC 3-0.

NEW BUSINESS:
Discussion was held on a donation for the New Market Foundation to help support the walking track project. Watson made a motion to donate $10,000 to the project. Fitzgerald seconded, MC 3-0. Department Head meeting was held. Beggs gave updates. Auditor Henry shared that her office would like to move to an electronic timecard system. She stated most of the Counties in the State have moved to electronic systems. Her office is trying to alleviate some of the issues they run into with paper copies and keeping accurate working times. Most Department Heads did not agree to go to the electronic system. Departments did agree to have all employees on the same working schedule instead of the 7 different schedules that are currently used.

OLD BUSINESS:
Shellia Culp discussed the upkeep of the Courthouse.

The Board approved claims to be paid and discussed items for the next meeting.

Fitzgerald made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Watson seconded, MC 3-0.
Meeting adjourned.
