PROCEEDINGS FOR THE
TAYLOR COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
The Taylor County Board of Supervisors met in regular session at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday,
September 18, 2025. Supervisor Jack Beggs called the meeting to order at 9:05 a m. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Supervisor roll call: Watson, Fitzgerald, and Beggs present. Also present, Auditor Judy Henry, Engineer Seth Sunderman, Attorney Mike Wells and Shari Morris.
Watson made a motion to approve the agenda for today and the minutes from the September 11, 2025, meeting. Fitzgerald seconded, MC 3-0.
COMMITTEE REPORT:

PUBLIC COMMENT:
None
SECONDARY ROAD REPORT:
No utility permits. Sunderman updated the Board on continued road projects. Auditor Henry presented Resolution 2026-07 Secondary Roads Transfer in the amounts of $313,892.25 from Rural Services, $22,340.25 from General Basic Fund and $31,944.73 from LOST. Watson made a motion to approve Resolution 2026-07. Fitzgerald seconded, MC 3-0.
NEW BUSINESS:
Employee Insurance Buyouts were reviewed by the Board. Attorney Wells reported his findings pertaining to Taylor County Veteran Service Officer qualifications certification notice sent by the Iowa Department of Veterans Affairs. Wells recommended the Board meet with the Veterans Affair Board at the Veterans’ next meeting on October 1, 2025. The Board of Supervisor’s agreed to attend the October 1, 2025, meeting.
Zoey Lecy, Conservation Director, reported on new and on-going projects they are providing to citizens. Some upcoming projects include the Taylor County Employeee Wellness Walk, 5K Sands Timber Halloween event and creating a fur program. She and her staff will be attending several training courses in September and October. Supervisors relayed they were getting a lot of good feedback from the public on the events and the improvements at the County Lakes.
OLD BUSINESS:
Sheilla Culp updated the Board on Courthouse upkeep, specifically the south entrance flower bed and the west wing remodel.
The Board approved claims to be paid and discussed items for the next meeting.
Watson made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Fitzgerald seconded, MC 3-0.
